Santa Fe Creates
Located within Midtown Santa Fe, the Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI) continues its legacy as a hub where artists, entrepreneurs, and the community connect through creativity and dialogue.
Building on this foundation, the Midtown Arts and Design Alliance (MADA) is repurposing 50,000 sq ft of Legorreta-designed spaces—including the Visual Arts Center and historic barracks—into affordable studios, classrooms, maker spaces, and public venues. With over 10 nonprofit partners, MADA will provide accessible arts programming, workforce training, and cultural engagement to serve more than 10,000 residents annually, advancing Santa Fe’s role as a center for innovation and creative entrepreneurship.
For Artists
The Santa Fe Art Institute provides studios and resources for artists to create work in Midtown. It connects artists while fostering collaboration, experimentation, and exchange. These opportunities support creativity and keep Santa Fe’s artistic spirit thriving.
Shared Space
MADA transforms Legorreta-designed buildings into studios, classrooms, and maker spaces. These facilities give nonprofits, educators, and artists space to create. By reactivating Midtown’s spaces, MADA builds a hub where art and design remain accessible.
Public Engagement
MADA hosts exhibitions, workshops, and events that engage thousands each year. Events amplify underrepresented voices and strengthen Santa Fe’s creative economy. Together, SFAI and MADA ensure Midtown remains a hub for connection and creativity.
